Alpacas are my new obsession. Seriously though, if you've had a stressful week or you're feeling down, there is no better way to cheer yourself up than to hug an alpaca. They're super friendly, they're fluffy as hell and they love to go on adventures. So, obviously I had an amazing time at this alpaca and prosecco hike.
K2 Alpacas organise weekend hikes in Newtown Mount Kennedy, Co. Wicklow, and it's literally one of the best things I've done in a while.
It's beyond random and completely out of the ordinary but you'll be smiling the entire time.
The hike is lead by Alpaca Joe, who is there to share his knowledge with you and pair you up with your very own friend. All of his alpacas are named after his children, nieces and nephews and I swear, I love nothing more than animals with really normal, human names.
My alpaca was called Amy and she was such a doll, I wanted to take her home with me.
As soon as I whipped out the camera, she was in Vogue-mode - What a superstar!
Joe loves his heard and you can tell he takes really good care of them. Before going on the hike, he will instruct you on how to walk them and pet them properly. They are super comfortable around humans and they're even cool with taking selfies with you.
To finish off the happiest day of your life, Joe serves up dinky glasses of prosecco and strawberries. You can see how much time and effort he puts in to the hikes - He had washed and cut up all of the strawberries in advance.
Cheers to that!
The treks run on weekends and the company is still quite new, so spaces are limited.
