Here comes the bride… as well as a bloody big bill.
Weddingsonline.ie have released the findings of their latest survey which asked over 2,000 participants about how much they spent on their big day and the results are quite revealing.
The average budget including honeymoon is a whopping €24,427 while half of the couples surveyed admitted to going over budget. 15% said said they spent €5,000 more than they had originally planned. Which brings the total up to close to a whopping €30,000.

Other findings include:
- On average couples invite 159 guests and 26% opt for a bigger celebration with over 200 guests.
- More and more couples are enjoying long engagements with over 25% of engaged couples waiting more than 2 years to get married. The average planning journey lasts 19 months.
- Religious ceremonies are still the most popular (70%); however, they are down 4% on last year while humanist ceremonies (13% of weddings) are getting more and more popular. Civil ceremonies account for 17% of all weddings.
