An ‘IKEA Of Sports Equipment’ Discount Store Is Opening In Nine Locations Around Ireland

Love getting new gym swag but shudder every single time you see leggings with a price tag of €60? Yep, us too. You’re gonna LOVE the new sports store that’s coming to Ireland then…

Decathlon is a French company that’s the largest sporting goods retailer in the world and stocks everything and anything to do with sports you could ever imagine.

Its large range of stylish and incredibly priced sportswear (think yoga leggings for less than a tenner and runners on sale for as little as €3.69) has made Decathlon one of the most popular sports brands in the world. It stocks all own-brand items and we gotta say, they’re lovely.

Last October Decathlon finally started delivering directly to Ireland, and now The Irish Times is reporting that it has plans to open NINE stores across the country.

According to Decathlon Ireland CEO Bastien Grandgeorge, the company is currently negotiating a deal for a 2,000-5,000sq m store just outside of Dublin.

It is reported that once the Dublin suburb store is open the company will open in Galway and Cork, with possible another two stores in Dublin and three more in as-of-yet unnamed locations in Ireland.

“We will take the time to find the perfect place to fit our concept,” Mr Grandgeorge told The Irish Times.

“It’s hard to find commercial places, but we’re not in a rush, and if we have to open in 2021 it’s not a problem. We’re here to stay for the long term,” he added.

Decathlon stocks equipment and sportswear for more than 65 types of sports and fitness activities

This is going to be epic for picking up new fitness bits and pieces on a budget. In the meantime, you can order online here.
