A Chocolate And Baking Weekend Is Coming To Cork Next Month

Sarah Finnan

You had me at chocolate.

Anything chocolate related and I’m in. Seriously, it’s pumping in my veins – I’m addicted.

Which is why the Cork Chocolate and Baking weekend sounds like my kind of gig.

Taking place in November, the three-day event will see world-renowned chocolatiers and bakers descend on Cork to sweeten things up a bit.

There will be a marquee with chocolate, baking and cookery demonstrations along with various workshops and talks.

The weekend will also see the second annual Great Cork Bake Off kick-off.

A panel of judges will whittle down finalists to just 15 of the city’s finest, basing the decision on their ‘showstopper’ cakes. The winner will be crowned by Executive Pastry Chef of the Merrion Hotel and Judge of the Great Irish Bake Off Paul Kelly.

This year’s festival boasts several new additions, namely a Sparkling Afternoon Tea with complimentary admission to the exhibitor area on November 23.

Other events include a Q&A with William Curley, a world-famous chocolatier and pâtissier and a talk on how to make the perfect Christmas Cake (necessary information coming up to the festive season).

Discover the best beer or wine and chocolate pairings, learn how to make your favourite tipple with a cocktail making class or carb it up with a Sourdough Made Easy workshop.

The real showstopper, however, is sure to be the Cork Chocolate Dinner, which will serve up an entirely cocoa themed dinner to guests.

A delicious weekend all around. Find out more info here.

See you there?
