Autumnfest Kicks Off On Douglas Street Today With Pizza, Paella And A Pig On A Spit

Sarah Finnan

Douglas Street’s (free) day of fun.

Autumnfest 2019, a celebration of the unique “village within a city” that is Douglas Street, is set to kick off down in the Rebel County today.

Think circus street performers, acrobats, comedy, live music with samba and brass bands, street games and even a Kiddies silent disco. Other activities include historical walking tours, a silversmith workshop tour and an interactive ‘Tell A Tale’ storytelling session that’s bound to keep the little ones occupied.

In other words, there’s loads going on.

Festivities start at noon and are set to run right up until the evening time.

Nano Nagle Place, which includes a museum, heritage rooms, gardens, a deli and both a design and gift shop, will be open for the public to wander around free of charge.

Food options include pizza, paella and a pig on a spit. The three most important p’s of any good party.

Douglas Street will be closed to traffic at Summerhill South, Rutland Street, White Street and Dunbar Street between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. so bear that in mind when planning your visit.
