Crews from the Irish Coast Guard rescued two people in difficulty off the coast of west Cork this afternoon, Independent.ie reports.
The casualties were successfully rescued off the south-west coast after activating an emergency alarm when their vessel overturned.
It’s believed the two casualties were attempting to row across the Atlantic.
Waterford-based Rescue 116 transferred them to Tralee Hospital.
“It highlights that if you can raise the alarm and stay afloat then you stand a very good chance of being rescued. I also want to compliment the helicopter crew and Valentia on a very successful operation and thank the Air Corps for their support.”
