The Script announce massive open-air concert in Cork

Darragh Murphy

The Script are coming to Cork.

The Dublin band confirmed on Friday morning that they would be headlining one of the summer concerts at Irish Independent Park next year.

Hot on the heels of the news that Dermot Kennedy would be performing in Cork next June, it was announced on Red FM that The Script would also be heading to the Rebel County for the next instalment of the Irish Independent Park summer concert series

Danny O’Donoghue, Mark Sheehan and Glen Power are expected to play at Independent Park on June 23, 2020.

The Script’s new album, Sunsets & Full Moons, will be released next Friday and the group will appear on The Late Late Show on Friday night to promote the record.

Tickets for The Script’s Cork gig also go on sale next Friday at 9.30am.

Frontman Danny recently opened up about the difficult year he endured, going through a break-up and losing his mother to a brain aneurysm.

“We’ve had a very tough year, I had a break up last year, my mum passed away in February,” Danny told the Irish Sun.

“It’s been an incredibly hard year for us all, but out of that heartbreak and heartache can only come good for me as an artist.

“To be honest, I’ve never felt better now, I feel like I’m leaner than I have ever been and, more so, my mind is lean.

“I’ve cut all the fat out of my mind, I’ve cut out all the s*** out of my life.”
