The Rebel City was taken over by jubilant soccer fans last night as the victorious Cork City men’s and women’s teams were welcomed home.
Both sides won their respective FAI Cup Finals at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday with the women’s team beating UCD Waves 1-0 followed by a penalty shoot-out victory for the men against Dundalk.
The men also finished top of the League Of Ireland this season, meaning they completed the first ever league and cup double in the club’s history while the under-17 side also won the league so there were plenty of reasons to celebrate.
Thousands gathered on the city’s grand parade to welcome home their heroes and heroines.
