So you're looking to plan a little weekend break? I couldn't recommend Cologne more.

It's just a stone's throw away from Dublin, you can see and do everything in a short space of time and it's just a darling place.

One thing I noticed when I was in Cologne however, was that the trendy foodie spots weren't as easy to come by as I had expected. In fact, I had to do a lot of research and use Google Maps to find most of them!

I was raging that I couldn't find a good list of all of the best restaurants around. Well, sometimes you've got to do these things yourself.

Just 'cause I laaavv yis, I've created the ultimate bucket list for foodies visiting Cologne.

Here's seven of my top picks:

1. Shaka Zulu

Shaka Zulu is top of the list today because it was by far my favourite place that I visited while I was there.

This funky South African-inspired tapas restaurant has a deadly atmosphere and even better food. Inside you'll find a buzzing bar, vibrant recycled material sculptures and a DJ booth down the back blasting the tunes.

If you're with your mates, get the sharing menu option - it gives you a taster of everything they have to offer.

2. Amabile

If you're looking for a fancy meal look no further than Amabile.

The dishes here are mostly local cuisine but they also have their own twist. It's that little bit more high-end so the prices also reflect this.

Great service and splendid food!

3. Funkhaus

This upmarket cafeteria specialises in tasty German cuisine and wines.

It's located right beside the WDR studios, so you'll often spot journalists, artists and and business people crowding in for their daily coffee - it's got a real metropolitan vibe to it.

The menu has a wide range of options from breakfast in the morning to cocktails in the evenings.

4. The Great Berry

Usually when I'm travelling I find my diet goes down the swanny.

If I'm on my holidays, I'm going to have that bowl of creamy pasta for dinner and that massive sambo for lunch. I do however, always enjoy a healthy breakfast.

The Great Berry serves stunning smoothie bowls in every flavour you can imagine.

The fruit is super fresh and it's really filling so it'll keep you going for the whole day - best of all, you won't feel crappy after it.

5. Pasta Bar

Little Italy in Cologne.

Get your pasta fix in this cute little rustic Italian. They also serve up a deadly charcuterie board which goes down a treat with a glass of vino.

Everything is fresh and super tasty - sure you can't go wrong.

6. Hans Im Gluck

This trendy burger joint is a hotspot with toursits and locals alike.

You can customise your burger how you like or pick from several delicious options on the menu.

Try to book this spot in advance because it can get super busy.

7. Törtchen Törtchen

The most incredible cakes aroud!
