Calling all bagel lovers – there’s a new spot to check out in Cork

Fiona Frawley

If you’re looking to feel like a born and bred New Yorker in the heart of Cork City, we’ve found the place for you.

5 Points Cafe is the new foodie kid on the block, serving up delish bagels, sambos and breakfast options. 5 Points Chef Rich has “put in crazy hours perfecting the (bagel) recipe”, according to an insta interview with Victorian Quarter where the cafe is located. To be fair, they look pretty immense:

Plus, he’s an actual real life New Yorker so that surely means he knows his stuff.

The bagel menu is small but perfectly formed (always a good sign in my own humble opinion), offering all the essentials. Toasted with butter (the ultimate morning comfort), with a dollop of cream cheese or loaded with egg, cheese, bacon and or sausage. What more do you really need, in all fairness?

Along with bagels they’ve got some delicious breakie options including a veggie and goats cheese croissant, Syrian flatbread with scrambled egg and cajun potato and loads of other tasty bits. They also aren’t shy to put an Irish twist on things, as you’ll see below:

From what we see online, the bagels fly out daily like nobody’s business. If you’re looking to head down, keep an eye on the bagel count on their Insta stories to make sure you’ll be able to secure the goods. Looking forward to paying them a visit!
