Fota Island to host a ‘Nollaig na mBan’ Afternoon Tea in aid of cancer research

Sarah Finnan

We all know I’m a big fan of Afternoon Tea.

I mean it’s absolutely delicious and it makes you feel extremely fancy, what’s not to like?

Plus, it makes for the ultimate Christmas present, because it’s an experience you can enjoy with the people you love.

Taking place in the luxurious surroundings of Fota Island, the ‘Nollaig na mBan’ or Women’s Little Christmas Afternoon Tea promises to put on a spread fit for a Queen.

Organised in aid of Breakthrough Cancer Research, this year’s event will be bigger and better than before.

Now in its ninth year, things will kick off with a pink gin reception, a craft exhibitor showcase and various pampering treatments from the spa.

Shortly followed by the main event – Afternoon Tea, during which guests will be treated to a makeup ‘how to’ from Glamity Jane and a fashion segment hosted by Grace Kane.

Journalist and broadcaster Deirdre O’Shaughnessy will be the glamorous MC, while the Loungeman will provide the evening’s musical entertainment.

Break out the fineries as there will be a best-dressed competition too. Now’s the chance to wear that dress you swore you’d never take off when you paid a small fortune for it…

Taking place in the new year on Sunday 5th of January, it’s still a ways off but tickets usually fly out the door so make sure to book now to secure your place.

Speaking of the event, Orla Dolan, Director of Fundraising with Breakthrough Cancer Research said: “Nollaig na mBan or Women’s Little Christmas is a fabulous excuse to catch up with the ladies in your life after a hectic Christmas”.

All proceeds from the event go to funding new treatments for poor prognosis cancers and those which respond poorly to conventional therapies.

Tickets cost €50. Visit the website for more info.
