Staff at Fota Wildlife Park have issued a statement to the public, assuring worried animal lovers that all is well despite severe flooding in the area.

Locals down in Rebel County awoke to severe flash flooding this morning – the second time that they’ve had to deal with such extreme weather in only a matter of months. Wreaking havoc on all parts of the county, even Fota Wildlife Park in Caarrigtohill hasn’t managed to escape unscathed with staff assuring concerned visitors that the animals are being well looked after.

Making the decision to close the park for the day, a message shared on social media explains the situation.

“We will be closed today, Tuesday, October 20th, due to high tides and some spot flooding within the wildlife park. We apologise for the inconvenience caused. All the animals in the park are doing well and are being looked after by our animal care team.”

Advising anyone with a booking to visit the park today to wait for direct contact from the park, it’s hoped that the weather will clear up very soon.
