A brand new TV comedy series of the hit Irish movie The Young Offenders has begun filming in Cork today.

The six-part series will follow lovable teenage ragamuffins Conor and Jock as they navigate through their adolescent years.

According to RTÉ, stars from the movie, Alex Murphy and Chris Walley, are back in action again following the film's roaring success at the box office.

The series, written, directed and executive produced by award-winning filmmaker Peter Foott, will film for eight weeks at locations across Cork city and county.

Each of the six shows, to be aired on RTÉ2 and BBC Three sometime in early 2018, will be half an hour long.
