Man Critical In Midlands Hospital After Being Stabbed By Youths On St. Patrick’s Day


A man in in critical condition in hospital today after he was stabbed in an attack by a group of youths last night.

The assault took place on New Street in Longford town at around 8.30pm yesterday evening.

The victim, who is in his 30s, suffered stab wounds and was rushed to Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar where he remains fighting for his life.

As reported by the Irish Independent, three people were arrested in relation to the incident shortly afterwards; An 18 year-old man, and two juveniles.

All three are currently detained at Longford Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Gardaí investigations are on-going.
