I went to see The Greatest Showman back in January and I haven’t stopped playing the soundtrack ever since. It’s definitely up there as one of the best musical films released in the last while.
Anyone who knows me will know I have a serious grá for Gaeilge and I love to see people promote it in a positive and creative way. I was a Colaiste Lurgan kid, so whenever I see a new music video by them, I get a nostalgic jolt of excitement. It seems they have started a trend and more and more Irish collages and schools alike have been following suit and doing their own covers.
Scoil Mhuire gan Smál in Carlow released their own music video this week and it’s beyond adorable. The all-girls primary school covered “This Is Me”, the popular hit from The Greatest Showman for Seachtain na Gaeilge and it’s a must watch. These girls have got some serious talent and it’s so lovely to see them having so much fun while singing completely in Irish.

The school prides itself on being a place where Irish and music is alive and well. This is truly evident in the video as you can see how much fun everyone involved is having throughout, it’s just so lovely to watch.
You can tell that these girls must have put some serious work in. Between singing, dancing and playing instruments, this is the kind of thing that these girls will carry with them long after their days in education.
Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí, maith sibh uilig!
