Clare-based diver Jim Warny has received a hero’s welcome at Shannon Airport today after arriving home from Thailand.
The Belgian national was part of the operation which successfully freed 12 boys and their football coach who had been trapped in a cave for 18 days. Upon arrival, he was met by his fiancée.

Jim told RTÉ News that it was a “truly amazing miracle” that all of the boys got out alive…

Jim also offered his condolences to the family of Saman Kunan, a Thai Navy SEAL who lost his life after delivering supplies of air to the group.
