Right, so we’re heading in the car and heading south today to go in search of these two lucky winners because we say there going to be having some night out tonight.

St. Patrick was smiling down on Cork yesterday as two lucky players from the county won almost half a million euro between them on last night’s Lotto draw.

One player from Bandon scooped the €250,000 top prize on Lotto Plus 2 while a player from Midleton won a cool €219,472 after matcing 5 numbers in the main Lotto Jackpot draw.

The Lotto Plus 2 ticket was purchased in Bandon Books Plus in the Riverview Shopping Centre in Bandon while the Match 5 winning ticket was purchased in Supervalu in Townspark, Midleton.

If you’ve bought your tickets in there recently, you are being urged to check them, quick-fast.

A National Lottery spokesperson said today: “We are absolutely delighted for our two Cork winners who will have a St. Patrick’s Day they will never forget! What a great way to celebrate our National Day landing this nice crock of gold!”

“We are advising all our Cork players to check their tickets to see if they are the lucky winners. Tickets can be checked in any store, on our webiste at www.lottery.ie or through the National Lottery App.”

Last night’s main Lotto Jackpot of almost €4.7 million was not won. The numbers drawn were: 4,10,13, 22,25,31 and bonus number 30

The winning Lotto Plus 2 numbers were: 5, 14, 18, 21, 34, 42,  and Bonus number 22.

The winning numbers for the Lotto Plus 1 draw were 7, 17, 20, 32, 38, 46 and the bonus of 40 – but, there was no big winners in that one.

A delighted owner of Bandon Books Plus, Ross Twoomey, said: “We are absolutely thrilled at this news. This is the first time we have sold such a big winning ticket.  We are a busy shop with a lot of footfall and it is likely that the winner is a local. There was a great buzz around yesterday for St. Patrick’s Day and the big rugby match so this has capped what has been a great weekend.”

Meanwhile Tommy Grines manager of Supervalu in Midleton said: “This is great news to wake up to! We are a large local shop right in the middle of the town and we know a lot of our customers so we are hoping it is someone from around. This is certainly a St. Patrick’s weekend to be remembered!”

The People’s Republic has taken all the Lotto luck, the greedy feckers.
