A 78-year-old man has died following a road traffic accident which took place in County Down.
The elderly pedestrian was struck by a car on South Promenade in Newcastle on the east coast of the county, shortly before 11pm last night.
According to the Irish Examiner, an 18-year-old male was arrested at the scene. It’s believed that the young man was driving while unfit to do so. It’s also believed that his dangerous driving caused the death. He has since been released on bail.
