Four people were arrested last night for drink driving as part of ‘Operation Surround’.
Gardaí in Kildare last night carried out an overnight high visibility traffic operation during which the four were arrested.
The initiative, known as ‘Operation Surround’ involves a series of high visibility MAT (Mandatory Alcohol Testing) checkpoints carried out simultaneously at key locations.
There were 22 checkpoints across the Rathangan, Monasterevin, Kilcullen and Newbridge areas, and 220 motorists were breath tested.
Gardaí also seized two vehicles after it was discovered they had no insurance.
25 other separate road traffic offences were detected during the operation.
