Pálás Cinema is giving away free popcorn all weekend and if that’s not a reason to lock in your next cinema date then I don’t know what is.
Usually, the Bank Holiday brings to mind images of sunny drinks down by Sparch. But let’s be realistic here, this is Ireland and the weather can only be described as unpredictable. So, always good to have a plan B should the sun decide not to cooperate.
Always a good plan B? Actually always a good plan A too? Going to the cinema and after months of watching movies at home in our PJs (the appeal has worn off slightly after nothing but that during quarantine), a cinema date is long overdue.

Pop into Pálás, Galway’s resident arthouse cinema, over the banker holiday and you’ll be treated to popcorn on the house – as a thank you and welcome back.
What’s on I hear you ask? Plenty to choose from between the Academy Award-winning Parasite, to 40th-anniversary screenings of The Empire Strikes Back as well as the much-loved classic Cinema Paradiso.
In other news, their sister cinema, Dublin’s Lighthouse Cinema, is selling a limited run of these ‘make some room’ prints with 20 per cent of profits going to The Capuchin Day Centre. Very cool and the perfect gift for any film buffs you know.
