This Kayak Tour Through Connemara Caves Looks Deadly

Éadaoin Fitzmaurice

Looking for something fun to do this summer?

There’s actually nothing better than getting out and getting active by the sea.

Connemara is known for its sweeping vistas and old stone roads but did you know it actually has some incredible caves along the coastline?

The best way to see these is by kayak.

The Connemara kayak tours are run by Clare, who studied Outdoor Education at Bicton College in Devon, South West England. Since then, she has worked all over the world, leading walking expeditions in Africa, sea kayaking tours in Australia, climbing expeditions in Spain and river trips in France.

She arrived in Ireland in 2003 and worked for numerous outdoor adventure companies within the Connemara region. After falling in love with the area, its people and the potential for outdoor activities, she decided to settle here and begin Real Adventures.

During the tour you will enjoy the meandering roads that make you feel like you’re truly in Ireland. You’ll first take in the stunning views and crystal clear waters that greet you when arriving to the beach.

After getting changed into your wetsuit, you’ll be given a short safety brief and introduction to kayaking. You’ll get on the water and practice the skills you learnt on the shore before heading off along the coast.

Along the way, expect to see fabulous scenery such as sea caves, sea arches and cliffs. You’ll think you’ve landed in another world.

You will be safely guided and instructed in and around these stunning rock formations. With a guaranteed best seat on the tour, you can sit back and enjoy the incredible views. You will be given expert information about the sea life and history along the way.
