Gardaí Investigating After Drunken Students Thrash Theatre And Urinate On Floor

Sarah

Gardaí in Limerick have launched an investigation after intoxicated students smashed up a college lecture theatre – student even urinating on the floor.

As reported in The Irish Independent, partygoers from Mary Immaculate College in Limerick’s South Circular Road, entered a lecture room on the college campus and damaged furniture and computer equipment.

The destructive incident took place during the college’s annual ‘Raise and Give’ (Rag) week, a student-led event.

It’s understood that three students were involved, and Gardaí at Henry Street are studying CCTV footage in an effort to identify the offenders, who could face expulsion from the teacher-training college.

It is reported that Mary Immaculate College will reconsider its policy of allowing a bar on campus during a week that traditionally was focused on raising money for charity.

In a statement, union president James Deegan said: “It is unfortunate this incident happened during what was an otherwise trouble-free week.”

He added that the union was working with college authorities and the gardaí to identify the culprits.

No arrests have yet been made.
