Alana Laverty

Gardaí made a fifth discovery of human remains this afternoon as part of an ongoing investigation in Co. Wicklow.

According to Independent.ie, sources say a human head was found 3km north of Glenmacnass Waterfall at approximately 1pm this afternoon following the initial discovery of a human torso near Old Military Road on Saturday evening.

Authorities have yet to identify the person.

It is believed they died in the previous week of the first discovery on June 10.

The authorities are currently trying to work out what happened to the deceased person, according to Superintendent Pat Ward of Bray Garda Station.

“From Glencree right down to Glenmacnass the pattern seems to be that the body parts were dispersed on the side of the road, from a moving vehicle. It’s very important to us that the public continue to report any suspicious activity that they might have seen from June 2 onwards,” said Supt Ward.

“Our main focus at the moment is on identifying the body,” Ward added.

He stated that no attempt was made to conceal the victim’s remains.
