katedemolder

Operations at Kerry Airport have returned to normal after an earlier incident.

An Aer Lingus flight has been forced to divert its course following an incident at the tiny airport.

According to news sources, the runway at the airport had been closed after a small privately-owned, single person plane temporarily went off the runway.

The incident happened Saturday, November 5 at about 12:20pm. No one was injured in the incident and an Aer Lingus regional flight operated by Stobart Air was sent back to Dublin Airport as a result.

Stobart Air (formerly Aer Arann) made arrangements to bus the passengers booked on their flight from Kerry to Dublin.

The airline confirmed in a statement that the airport has been closed:

We can confirm that Aer Lingus Regional flight EI3204 from Dublin to Kerry was forced to return to Dublin Airport this morning due to an unrelated issue involving a small light aircraft on the runway in Kerry Airport.  As a result, the runway at Kerry has been temporarily closed, with all flights suspended.

Alternative travel arrangements have been made for all Aer Lingus Regional passengers.

Flights departing and arriving at the airport are back on schedule.
