Locals react to video of crowds gathered outside Limerick venue last night

Video footage captured outside a Limerick venue last night has gotten quite a reaction since being posted online with locals dubbing it “disgraceful behaviour”.

A chef in the nearby 1826 Adare Restaurant, local man Wade Murphy was en route home after a busy night at work when he came across large crowds of people gathered out on the street. Unsettled by what he saw, Murphy took to social media to vent his frustrations, writing:

“Cracking auld night at the stove and by the looks of things driving home Limerick must have won the All Ireland again unbeknownst to me!! The crowd going in and out of one of the pubs I passed looked like Liam McCarthy was in there!!!”

Agreeing that he’s noticed much the same thing over the weekend, fellow chef Keith Pigott said that the issue arises after customers have left a venue.

“Same here two good busy nights. People and staff following the rules. Then on the drive home people spilling out of pubs no masks no social distancing…”

Videoing the whole thing as he passed by the Limerick venue, Murphy later shared the short clip online, igniting fury amongst locals who have said that it makes them “incredibly angry” to see.

Adding that such events will be “the cause of new level restrictions”, several have called on An Taoiseach Micheal Martin to clamp down on the problem so as to “safeguard the future”.
