A couple of points down and with their backs up against the wall, James Durcan produced a cross-cum-shot mid-way through the game which flew over the Tipp ‘keeper’s head and into the goal.
It proved to be the turning point in the game.

After this goal rattled the net, Mayo went on a point scoring run and ended up overthrowing the home visitors, 1-19 to 1-11.
Mayo now find themselves in the bowl on Monday morning for round 3.
