Rumour has it that no matter where you position yourself in the world, you’re only a 200 metre radius away from someone from Mayo.
Don’t believe us? Stop what you’re doing right now and stay silent and you’ll be able to hear faint chants of ‘Mayo for Sam’ around you.
There seems to be a big Mayo connection all around the world and the county’s reputation grows even more after a small parade in a little village called Lahardane featured on US television.
The Delaware Hayes Band played in the parade and was featured on Fox 28 news channel in Ohio.

The comical pronunciation of the place name (it should be said like La-har-dawn) is just the beginning of the brilliant video where the hosts go on to discuss what they think Gaelic Football is.
One says that it’s “football but with sticks” but is immediately shot down after being told that “that’s hurling”.
They then decide that it’s “soccer with a beer in your hand”.
Now that is a combination sport we’d love to see.
