Dooagh beach in Achill, Mayo was washed away by the ocean 30 years ago — but in the last few weeks, the beach has come back.
Strange as it sounds, the strand has been recreated in the last few weeks thanks to massive amounts of sand, shells and pebbles being naturally deposited here by the Atlantic.
Before the beach had washed away, the area was a thriving tourist destination and one of the largest villages in Europe, according to Irishtimes.com. It’s hoped that the beach’s reappearance will entice even more visitors to the beautiful Achill.
I mean, just look at it.
Fingers crossed the pesky Atlantic doesn’t whisk this beaut away again too soon.
