This staycation spot in Leitrim has everything, including an outdoor pool

Fiona Frawley

If you’ve been looking to explore more of Ireland’s hidden heartlands, this looks like the dreamiest base.

This dotey getaway in the northwest of Ireland has everything you need to live your best cottagecore life.

It’s also got a hot tub, sauna and a 25metre natural swimming pool. Yes, you read that right.

Caitríona, the host of the cottage, spent the summer working on this amazing outdoor pool, which since then has been gradually filled “by the lovely Leitrim weather”.

What started out as half a tonne of rubber lining has now become an incredible setting for an icy dip:

Luckily, the the outdoor hot tub and sauna are close at hand for warming up in afterwards.

You might also recognise Caitríona from her stint on The Big DIY Challenge, where she converted this shipping container into an incredible work from home space.

It beats my set up at the kitchen table, anyway.

This unique stay is dog friendly and even caters for horses, with paddocks and stables on site. It’s also ideally located for anyone looking to explore Cuilcagh’s stairway to heaven, Benbulben, the Gleniff Horseshoe and the Marble Arch Caves, all of which are a short drive away. Also, if you’d rather just cosy up in the cottage, befriend the four gorgeous farm dogs and kick back in the hot tub, that’d be okay too.
