10 Miracle Products Every Irish Gal Needs In Her Make Up Bag

Sarah

The feeling of having a beaut full face of make up will never be beaten – we’re all for going barefaced and embracing the natural look, but I know that I personally feel my best when I’m all done up.

Searching for those elusive “must have” products can be a bit of a slog (hands up who splashed out on something mad expensive only to never ever use it?), but when you find the ones that work you know they’ll never leave your make up bag.

We’ve rounded up our absolute favourite products – the ones that transform our faces, have been used down to pan time and time again, and will always be within a manicured reach. Some are a bit more expensive than a classic Catrice or NYX item, but adding piece by piece to your make up bag over time is well worth it.

Here’s 10 makeup products (in no particular order) that we think every Irish gal should have in her bag. You won’t regret adding these to your collection..

1. Vichy Dermablend Corrective Fluid Foundation €19

I will never use another foundation again after discovering this legend. It’s 25% pigment concentration so gives super full coverage without looking like a mask, and it’s hydrating and gentle on the most sensitive of skin.

A little goes a long way, and it covers spots like nothing else.

2. Sleek Precious Metals Highlighter €13

I’ve spent a bomb on other highlighters before (I’m a-lookin’ at you, MAC), but this Sleek palette is my new go-to.

There’s three iridescent shades and one powder golden highlighter, and they’re so simple to use for a quick glow. It’s easy to build intensity and layer the shades too, so you can go all out with the highlight for a night out.

3. Stila Crush Lip & Cheek Stain €18.50

This revolutionary multi-tasker is almost sold out on Stila’s website so we are praying it’s not being discontinued…

It’s really creamy and amazing pigment, makes cheeks really glowy and doesn’t sit in chapped lips. Ideal.

4. KIKO Flawless Fusion Bronzer Powder €12

I’m basically scraping the last pieces of powder off this ‘cos I forgot to stock up at the KIKO store in Belfast. This is one of my all time favourite budget brands: the pigment is intense, their products are never chalky and they do great skincare.

This bronzer is the perfect whoosh of colour for cheeks and light contouring. The ‘Honey’ shade should suit most skintones.

5. Benefit 24-hour Brow Setter Clear Brow Gel €26

“It’s like hairspray for eyebrows” is how our journalist Eadaoin describes this nifty little product.

It sets brows for the entire day and seals in any product with a natural clear coating. Wear alone or to set other brow products.

6. Kat Von D – ‘Shade + Light’ face contour palette €46

Bit more pricey than some of the other contour palettes out there, but this is the biz. It’s a lovely creamy texture and builds up really well for chiseled cheekbones of your dreams.

A rare instance where all shades are completely wearable, with a lovely peachy colour that almost doubles as a blush.

7. Urban Decay ‘Perversion’ Mascara €23

This is BLACK BLACK BLACK. Super bold colour with a big fluffy wand that coats even the teeniest of lashes with mascara.

I’d never be one for splurging on mascara but I got this as a gift one Christmas and will now only buy this bad boy to add drama to my eyelashes.

8. KIKO Candy Split Moisterising Serum €18

My lifesaver KIKO back at it again with this shimmering serum that preps skin for makeup and leaves a subtle glow.

It’s lightly moisterising (I use about 20 minutes after moisterising and about five or so before foundation), and really smooths the skin. Foundation glides on after this, and stays well put.

9. MAC Eyeshadow (Coppering) €17

MAC’s eyeshadows never fail. They’re full of pigment, mega-blendable, and pick up easily with your eyeshadow brush.

Coppering should be on hand at all times. Genuinely, it makes every eye colour pop and can be used with a wet brush for a dramatic line under the eye, or softly blended for a rusty smokey eye. Obsessed.

10. e.l.f. Precision Multi Blender Massager Makeup Brush €18-ish

It might look a bit gimmicky, but this odd shaped brush has transformed how I apply my make up, and looks so flawless.

I use it for everrrrrrrrythang – foundation, contouring, and even a smidge of powder blush and it’s so fluffy and yes, precise.
