5 Brand New Netflix Releases To Binge On Tonight

Alana Laverty

Here are five brand new releases for you to binge on this fine Saturday night if you’re absolutely knackered after that week.

1. Dear White People

Based on the acclaimed indie film, this series satirizes “post-racial” America as students of color navigate a predominantly white Ivy League college.

I started it last night and am already hooked.

2. Casting JonBenet

In 1996, Boulder, Colorado in America was rocked by the mysterious death of six-year-old pageant queen, JonBenet Ramsey.

Two decades later, director Kitty Green returns to audition local actors, unpacking how each remembers and relates to the ill-fated Ramsey family. A darkly moving exploration of crime, guilt and personal bias, Casting JonBenet expertly blurs the lines between documentary and drama.

3. Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie

Starring Jeff Garlin as Gene Handsome, an LA homicide detective who tries to make sense of his life as he solves crime. Handsome’s knack for solving mysteries is matched only by his inability to make sense of his own problems.

4. Cable Girls

Being a woman in 1928 was no easy task. Four women in search of independence are brought together through their work as telephone operators.

Makes for excellent watching.

5. Girlboss

The incredible, and hilarious story of Sophia Amoruso of Nasty Gal who began selling vintage clothes on eBay and, by the age of 28, had built the multi-million dollar fashion empire.

So brill.
