5 Beautiful Dream Houses That Are At One With The Landscape Around Them

niallharbison

One of the things that most people dream of doing if they came into a load of money is building their dream home. While most end up being large monstrosities with little taste there are some houses that are so beautifully designed that they add to the surroundings around them. We can but dream that one day we’d be able to own one of these five gorgeous dream houses:

1. Nahahum Canyon- Washington State

This two storey house was created by Balance in their unique style. Has so much space for you to get away from it all but at the same time it isn’t an eye sore nor does it look out of place.

2. Gumno House Croatia

This house mixes the old with the new. The entire place is built around the ancient gumno (from which the house takes it’s name) which is a plateau in a clearing surrounded by a low stone wall. Well back from the seaside but still incredible sweeping views. You’ll get an even better feel for the place by watching this video.

3. Fallingwater House

Famous from the days it was featured on the cover of Time magazine way back in 1938, this house has been built into a waterfall. You’d barely notice it from walking alongside it and perhaps the best part is the remarkable story behind it which you can read all about here.

4. The Hobbit House

This house was built for a remarkable €5000 and it blends into the landscape perfectly. As they explain in the video it wasn’t their intention to create something like a house from the Hobbit but as the worldwide media attention shows they have achieved that in spades.

5. Flinstone House Malibu

Malibu in South California is one of the nicest parts of the world and in order to stay within planning permission rules they blasted the rocks out and built the house into the rocks themselves. The result is a house that has been nicknamed “the Flinstone house” for obvious reasons which has stunning views of the sea and a price tag of $3 million.
