A Harry Potter TV series is reportedly in ‘early development’ at HBO Max, Variety has reported today.

The publication states that while ‘no writers or talent are currently attached to the project, sources say conversations have taken place with multiple writers on the potential series.’

The news will surely be welcomed by both avid and casual fans of the wizarding world and while Warner Bros and HBO Max have told Variety that ‘there are no Harry Potter series in development at the studio or on the streaming platform,’ the entertainment website says that ‘multiple sources have confirmed that the project is in the very early stages.’

The hugely successful Harry Potter movie franchise consisted of eight movies spanning from 2011 until 2011. They starred Daniel Radcliffe as the eponymous hero alongside Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger.

The movies were based on the books of JK Rowling which followed Harry’s quest to overcome his arch-enemy Lord Voldemort.
