In pre-internet Ireland, the release of the RTÉ Guide was a surefire sign that Christmas had begun.
The red pen would come out to circle the movies and TV shows we wanted to watch over the festive season and there was always a decent interview with Zig and Zag somewhere in the middle.
In 2017, the annual favourite is alive and well and the this year’s edition has just been released. It’s always seen as quite an honour to make it onto the cover of the Christmas RTÉ Guide and some of Ireland’s most famous faces grace the front page.
There’s Ryan Tubridy, Lucy Kennedy, Brendan O’Carroll as Mrs. Brown and Miriam O’Callaghan to name but a few but if you look closely at the inside of the cover you’ll see Ireland’s most famous face of all partaking in a spot of ice-skating.
It’s finally here!!!
The Christmas RTÉ Guide is on sale from today, in all shops by Wednesday!

There he is there, in a world of his own, looking like Mr.Christmas himself. Conor McGregor is used to showing this kind of grace in the octagon but it’s not often we see him display the same poise while wearing a Christmas jumper.
A far cry from his much-publicised rowdy antics of late but maybe RTÉ are predicting calmer and more serene McGregor for 2018? We’ll have to wait and see.
