One Of The Best Irish Documentaries Of The Year Is Being Repeated For The Few That Missed It

Almost there folks, almost there.

It’s Thursday, you’re one step closer to the weekend and to the prospect of letting rip on the town.

But for now, you’ll have to be content enough with your couch and that’s no problem tonight as one of the best Irish documentaries this year is being repeated on television.

‘All Bets Are Off’ fronted by Baz Ashmawy shows the problem that gambling and addiction has in this country.

He talks to various people about their addiction.

One anonymous interviewee started off small by buying scratch cards that snowballed into a couple of thousand of euro in debt.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Former postmaster Tony O’Reilly, explains how he stole €1.75m from his employer, An Post, to feed his crippling addiction.

The documentary airs on Thursday on RTÉ One at 22:15. It’s definitely one to stay up for.
