An Irish Legend And An 80s Pop Icon Both Feature On TV On This Stormy Night

James Fenton

Today marks the one year anniversary of the sudden and tragic death of Munster rugby legend Anthony Foley and RTÉ are marking the day with a special documentary tonight.

‘Anthony Foley: Munsterman’ features interviews with those who knew Axel best and their accounts of his impact on their lives and the shock with which they met his passing last year.

It gets underway at 9.35pm on RTÉ 1.

If you’re more into programmes of the music than sport variety then flick over to Channel 4 for this feature-length look at the life of George Michael.

The 80s and 90s icon, who passed away last Christmas, narrates this intimate documentary himself and it looks well worth tuning into.

‘George Michael: Freedom’ gets underway at 9pm on Channel 4.

A Twitter emoji has even been released to mark the occasion so you can share your thoughts with fellow viewers on this wet and windy night.
