TV3 first went to air on September 20 1998 and has since evolved into a major rival to the government-funded RTÉ.
The station was bought by Virgin Media Ireland in 2015 and now specialises in a number of genres from news to reality TV to sport. Next month, it will take over the much-coveted Six Nations coverage from RTÉ.
