Big Brother fans are in for a treat this summer with Channel 4 set to air classic episodes to celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary.
Yep, Big Brother is 20 years old this summer and you’re ancient. The show that kickstarted the reality trend of the 21st century was introduced to viewers in the summer of 2000 with a motley crew of contestants including victorious scouser Craig, Irish lesbian nun Anna, and of course, Nasty Nick himself.
Over the years that following there were tears, tantrums and plenty of laughs as the housemates’ antics gripped millions of viewers every night of the week. Kildare’s Brian Dowling won the second series, the late Jade Goody sparked a media frenzy in series three and who could forget the eccentricities of Nikki Grahame in series seven?
It’s now been confirmed that fans will be able to relive it all this summer as Davina McCall and Rylan Clark-Neal look back on famous episodes from down the years. Speaking about the news, McCall said: “I lived and breathed Big Brother for 11 years of my life. I didn’t miss one single episode. Not one week goes by when I don’t quote big brother in some form. It made me laugh, it made me cry and most importantly it taught me to never judge a book by its cover.”
The date of Big Brother’s return has yet to be confirmed but at least we know it won’t be long before we’re hearing this banger of a theme tune again…
