Coláiste Lurgan Students Are Getting Their Very Own Reality TV Show

Sarah

Coláiste Lurgan is the kind of Gaeltacht we were hoping to get sent to as teens, instead we somehow ended up in the strictest Bean an Ti’s gaff who wouldn’t even give us a towel for the shower unless you asked in Irish (true story – I never did find out the word for ‘towel’ as Gaeilge…)

So it makes sense then that the coolest Gaeltacht in the land, known for their viral hits of popular tunes in Irish, is getting their own reality TV show.

The Irish Examiner reports that the new series will start on TG4 in December, and Stiofán Ó Fearaíl, from the Colaiste Lurgan Music Department, told them how they pick their talented stars to perform the songs.

“We bring in a load of people and we have everyone singing along and we just know when the people stand out to us. We see if they’re interested.

“We usually hear it from the múinteoirí that ‘this guy here wants to do something,’ it’s an informal process more than anything else,” he said.

The kids have most recently covered Luis Fonsi’s Despacito, and have also done insane versions of Ed Sheeran and Avicii.

Their incredible Avicii cover…

This is gonna be class.
