Colm Meaney Is Feckin’ Gas In This Hollywood Comedy On TV Tonight

James Fenton

Colm Meaney is well-loved across this land for his various acting roles over the years. This is thanks largely to the ‘gruff Irish dad’ character he portrayed so well in Roddy Doyle’s Barrytown movies, namely The Commitments, The Snapper and The Van

The persona has even been given something of a revival this year thanks to the hilarious Roddy Doyle’s Star Trek Facebook page which emerged during the summer.

Tonight’s TV movie however, sees Meaney adopt the role of a party-loving Englishman who is the father of Russell Brand’s rock star character in 2010 comedy Get Him To The Greek

The movie also stars Jonah Hill and serves as a spin-off (of sorts) to 2008 classic Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Hill plays a record executive forced to keep tabs on rebellious rock star Aldous Snow and there’s much amusement as the zany comedy plays out.

Meaney’s cameo is great and be sure to look out for a brief appearance by Prince Harry’s future wife Meghan Markle.

Get Him To The Greek starts tonight on Comedy Central at 10pm. You can check out the trailer below.
