PICS: Everybody Was Saying The Same Thing Online After This Interview On RTÉ’s The Late Late Show

Darragh Berry

If you didn’t catch the Late Late show last night, you missed a great episode of the classic talk show.

Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy was joined by a Python and the breakout star of one of the biggest musicals of the last decade on Friday night.

Ryan looked on the bright side of life with Monty Python legend Eric Idle. The comedian, actor, writer and musician chatted about being part of one of the most beloved comedy groups of all time and a life that has seen him count everyone from The Beatles and Stones as friends.

She stole the show from Hugh Jackman as the bearded lady in The Greatest Showman and Keala Settle’s performance of This Is Me is one of the biggest songs of the last decade. She joined Ryan in studio and chatted about being thrust into international fame and recording her new album.

But the most popular interview of the night was with four time All-Ireland winner Cora Staunton.

She chatted about scaling the heights of Ladies GAA – having started playing for the Mayo Senior team at just 13 years of age – before going on to take eleven All-Star Awards and be the first international draft signing in the Australian Women’s Football League.

Tubridy asked her about life in the professional game down under, why she chose to address rumours about her sexuality and she of course gave her take on the ongoing controversy around Ladies GAA in Mayo.

And people were very impressed with her online…

It seemed last night that the fantastic footballer has called time on her county career as she told Ryan that she cannot see herself playing for Mayo again.

“I can’t see myself playing for Mayo again,” she said.

“I’m blessed, I’ve played with Mayo for 24 years. There are not many that can say they’ve played with their county for that long.

“There is [more in me] but I’ve the club, Carnacon.

“I probably said [to myself] before I had made the decision to go back this year that this was probably going to be my last year, in any event.”
