This Viral Netflix Show Has Broken Up Over 8,000 Couples

Éadaoin Fitzmaurice

Watching Netflix has become a go-to couple’s activity for cosy nights in, however, if you want to stay with your bae you might want to skip over this one.

Netflix recently released a two-part show of Scottish comedian Daniel Sloss’ stand-up specials. The two episodes delve into dad jokes, vegans, parenting and most importantly puzzling relationship patterns.

The 28-year-old has gone viral since the release of this show across 190 countries.

The comedian’s brutal honesty about love and relationships has caused over 8,000 couples to split up as a result.

This all boils down to one joke from the set on episode two – Jigsaw.

The twenty minute joke begins as a love letter to singletons and talks about how being single is better than being in a relationship.

It seems to act as a reality check for people who are coasting in a relationship and are not entirely happy with their other half.

Sloss explained on the Conan show as of late that before appearing on Netflix it had broken up “72 couples and then in five days it had gone up to 4,000”

Since the release of the show, Sloss has been counting the number of couples that have parted ways and has posted it on his Twitter bio, just in case you wana’ keep track (it’s interesting to watch the numbers go up each day).

He current break up tally is:

  • 8,000+ break ups
  • 36 cancelled engagements
  • 46 divorces

It’s like a virus!

Sloss’ reasoning behind Jigsaw is “I think a society we pressure people to get into relationships and I think there’s a certain level of arrogance in relationships on social media.”

Would you watch it with your partner?
