The best news everrrrrr has been revealed this morning – Sir David Attenborough, the ‘Animal King’, will return to our screens with a sequel series of Blue Planet.

Blue Planet II, which will be broadcasted on BBC One this autumn and explores beneath the waves, will show “uncovered animals” (does this mean that there’s cute animals out there we haven’t even seen yet?!), and has footage from all of the world’s oceans.

It was revealed this morning that Sir David Attenborough and his crew have spent the last four years filming the new seven-part documentary.

Producers have also taken two manned submersibles to explore the depths of the Antarctic at 1,000 metres for the first time, bringing the world of the alien deep to the audience – very excited/scared for this episode.

We’ll also see a hairy-chested Hoff crab, snub fin dolphins and tool-using tusk fish, as well as underwater volcanoes. We’re intrigued.

Planet Earth II, was the most watched natural history programme in the last 15 years with an audience of up to 13 million viewers, so this new series is sure to be a HUGE success.

James Honeyborne, the show’s executive producer, said: “The oceans are the most exciting place to be right now, because new scientific discoveries have given us a new perspective of life beneath the waves.

“It will provide a timely reminder that this is a critical moment for the health of the world’s oceans.”

Oh, and just when you thought things couldn’t get any better…. The BBC is reportedly working on plans for another series of Planet Earth which it wants to be made before Sir David’s 100th birthday in 2026.

Yaaasssss David <3
