Lewis Capaldi’s Someone You Loved was the biggest song of the year racking up 26.8 million streams over audio and video. Not surprising considering it spent six weeks at the top of the Irish charts – the first of three chart-toppers for the singer last year.

The Scotsman’s breakthrough single was also the most downloaded song of 2019 with a whopping five million more streams than its closest competitor.

Other Capaldi tracks that made the top 50 include Hold Me While You Wait at number 13, Bruises at number 19 and Grace at number 21.

Old Town Road was second, with Lil Nas X taking top honours for the biggest debut single of the year. It finished with a combined 21.3 million audio and video plays after a four-week stint at number one.

Billie Eilish also featured, scoring the biggest song of the year not to reach number one. Bad Guy, which spent six non-consecutive weeks at number 2, ranked third on the list.

Dance Monkey by Tones and I came in fourth, followed by Outnumbered by Dermot Kennedy which was the biggest song of the year by an Irish artist.
