Some Of Items On The Banned List For Ed Sheeran’s Irish Concerts Are Bizarre

James Fenton

If you’re planning on catching up on those pesky spreadsheets during the Ed Sheeran concerts this month, you better think again.

A fairly detailed list of banned items for the gigs has been released and some of the items on it are fairly bizarre. Not because they shouldn’t be banned but because the organisers must think some people are going to turn up with items such as laptops and scooters. Although given the amount of youngsters we’ve seen rolling down Grafton Street on the latter recently, we shouldn’t be too surprised.

Sheeran kicks off his nine-date Irish tour at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday before moving on to Belfast on May 9, Galway on on May 12 and 13 and the Phoenix Park in Dublin on May 16, 18 and 19.

According to the Irish Mirror, the full list of prohibited items from the shows include some fairly obvious things like bottles and cans but why the hell can’t anyone bring a flask in? Surely nothing wrong with keeping your mug of tea warm for a few hours?

The full list is as follows:

  • Umbrellas
  • Large lens professional cameras or any form of video recorder
  • Flag poles
  • Selfie sticks
  • Sticks for banners
  • Any article that may be used as a weapon
  • Bottles
  • Glass
  • Cans
  • Flasks
  • Frisbees
  • Illegal substances
  • Scooters
  • Skateboards or other skates.
  • Laser devices
  • Prams or push chairs
  • Inflatable and/or folding chairs
  • Suitcases
  • Laptops
  • Illegal merchandise items
  • Hampers,
  • Cold boxes
  • Air horns
  • Animals (except service dogs and guide dogs)

You’ve been warned, folks. Get all the mileage you need out of your air horn before you leave the house.
