Let the weekend begin… WITH SOME MOVIES!

Some Oscar winners, some great comedies and some big action. All depends on what you’re in the mood for.

Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle – E! Entertainment – 8pm

The Angels (Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu, Drey Barrymore) investigate a series of murders which occur after the theft of a witness protection profile database.

Captain Phillips – ITV4 – 9pm

The true story of Captain Richard Phillips (Tom Hanks) and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the U.S.-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years.

The Full Monty – RTE Two – 10pm

Six unemployed steel workers form a male striptease act. The women cheer them on to go for “the full monty” – total nudity.

Shooter – Virgin Media One – 10pm

A marksman (Mark Wahlberg) living in exile is coaxed back into action after learning of a plot to kill the President. After being double crossed for the attempt and on the run, he sets out for the real killer and the truth.

Mid90s – FilmFour – 10.50pm

Stevie is a thirteen-year-old in 1990s-era Los Angeles who spends his summer navigating between his troubled home life and a group of new friends that he meets at a Motor Avenue skate shop.

A Monster Calls – BBC One – 11.25pm

A boy (Lewis MacDougall) seeks the help of a tree monster (Liam Neeson) to cope with his single mother’s terminal illness.

Rough Night – Channel 4 – 12.05am

Things go terribly wrong for a group of girlfriends (Scarlett Johannson, Kate McKinnon, Zoe Kravitz) who hire a male stripper for a bachelorette party in Miami.

Blades of Glory – FilmFour – 12.30am

In 2002, two rival Olympic ice skaters (Will Ferrell and Jon Heder) were stripped of their gold medals and permanently banned from men’s single competition. Presently, however, they’ve found a loophole that will allow them to qualify as a pairs team.
