We can only imagine that in the future, when someone is trying to explain the power of GAA in Ireland, they’ll show them a clip from this documentary.
What can you say about Mick O’Dwyer that hasn’t already been said? He was part of one of the most successful Kerry teams ever and bagged himself four All-Irelands in the process.
Some people describe GAA as a pastime, others live their lives religiously through it from January until September but for Micko you just know that his life is GAA, 365, 24/7.
And trust us when we say that it’s not an overstatement:
“I’d like to be on the sideline watching or in the stand, and drop dead, that’s the way I’d like it to happen.”
He spent 16 years of his life playing ball and when he felt that he wasn’t fit to do it anymore, he turned to management where he held the reigns at Kerry, Kildare, Laois and Wicklow winning eight All-Irelands along the way.
Micko’s self described addiction “to the bloody thing” is something that’s not to be missed.
“I’m totally addicted to the game… I’ll keep at it until I go into the grave”
