PIC: This Real Madrid Player Is A Massive Mayo GAA Fan Now

Darragh Berry

Lads, I’m telling you, 2019 is the year.

The whole world is talking about Mayo GAA. First, the lads went viral with their rendition of Garth Brooks’ ‘The River’ after crashing out of the Championship to Kildare.

Then, The Pope only went and removed the bloody curse that’s stopped us from winning the All-Ireland since 1951 – signing a green and red jersey.

And now this.

Westport man, Donal Fahy, sent this on to and we could imagine this player lining out at number 11 for Mayo, never mind Real Madrid.

For years, pundits have said that Mayo don’t have a “marquee forward” (even though Cillian O’Connor is set to take the spot of ‘all-time top scorer in GAA next year at the age of 26, he’s on 341 points in second, Cooper is on 352 in first place, but yeah he’s not a marquee forward) and now they’ve got him.

Gareth Bale Mayo

Gareth Bale was doing a spot of golfing when someone handed him a Mayo jersey and a pen.

In fairness to Bale, he took the time out, signed the jersey and even posed for a picture.

James Horan has returned as manager for the west county ahead of the 2019 season and is looking forward to exciting times ahead.

Speaking to The Western People, he said that:

“There’s a very good team there and it’s a very good time in Mayo football. I’d be very excited about what’s coming through as regards the youth talent that’s in Mayo.

“If you squash that in with the experience that’s there, I just think that there’s possibly exciting times and I’d just love to help them in some way. I’d have a philosophy on how I think the game can be played, the steps that Mayo could take.

“Through what Liam Moffatt has done with the coaching academy, there’s a lot of very good coaches around and a lot of bright ideas starting to take shoot. It’s important that all of that is aligned and linked up.”

Horan led Mayo to two All-Ireland finals in 2012 and 2013 where they lost to Donegal and Dublin respectively.

In that period, Mayo won four Connacht titles and got to at least the Semi-Final in each year.
