Gavin James has announced plans for a series of drive-in concerts this summer and it’s exactly the type of news we needed to hear on a Tuesday morning.
Festival season may be cancelled for this year (sigh, still not over it), but Gavin James has given us hope that all is not lost – revealing that he’ll be doing a number of drive-in gigs this summer. Set to play a series of “innovative” gigs, the idea is that the singer will take to the stage while audiences enjoy the show from their cars… meaning that proper social distancing measures can still be enforced.
Making the big announcement on Twitter this morning, he wrote that he’s been “sitting on this news for weeks”.
“I’m delighted to announce I’m doing a Drive-In tour.”

Adding that the gigs are of course subject to “all public health guidelines”, he’s announced concerts in four locations this summer including Limerick, Cork, Waterford and Kilkenny.
Tickets go on sale this Friday at 9am and they’re sure to be like absolute goldust. May the odds be ever in your favour.
The first drive-in live concert experience of its kind in Ireland, according to the Live at The Drive In website, a number of different concerts are being lined-up for the summer which means that it’s likely other artists will announce shows in the coming weeks.
In fact, The Coronas frontman Danny O’Reilly recently revealed that the band are looking into alternative ways to promote their latest studio album, saying that drive-in gigs could be a definite possibility.
