Google’s New Modular “Project Ara” Smart Phone Could Change The Game

niallharbison

Google shared the video below yesterday showing off their new modular phone which will launch later in the summer. It was a developer conference for Project Ara which is a phone that will allow you to swap modules like cameras, screens, battery and memory in and out as you need them. Want a more powerful camera or a longer lasting battery? No problem. Simply slip it out and slot the new one in. This aims to solve the problem of having to upgrade every year to the latest model as the older phone becomes obsolete. It makes a lot of sense (especially the smashed screen option!), but it remains to be seen if this new approach to the mobile phone will take off. With Google behind it and a launch later in the year it certainly will have every chance of being a success. Let’s wait and see.
